CHURCH THOUGHTS ON LENT

The Bishops of the United States prescribe, as minimal obligation, that all persons who are 14 years of age and older are bound to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday, February 10th, on all the Fridays of Lent and Good Friday. Further all persons between 18 - 59 years of age are bound to fast by limiting themselves to a single full meal on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday, while the other two meals on those days are to be light.

All the faithful are encouraged t0

· Participate at Mass and to receive the Holy Eucharist daily

· Celebrate frequently the Sacrament of Penance

· Undertake spiritual reading

· Reflect prayerfully on the Stations of the Cross. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is especially recommended.

· All are encouraged to participate in Operation Rice Bowl

BEST LENT EVER

Hopefully each parishioner picked up a copy of the book, “Rediscover Jesus.” Copies are available if anyone wants an individual copy. A new offering is available to all parishioners. The goal is to use the book to make this your BEST LENT EVER.  Based on Matthew Kelly’s new bestseller “Rediscover Jesus,” Dynamic Catholic’s free Best Lent Ever email program will take you on a 40-day spiritual journey to encounter Jesus—and yourself—in a deeply personal way, and begin (or nourish) a habit of daily prayer. More information and the ability to sign up can be found at
